Natasha Graziano’s New Book Explores the Unlimited Power of the Subconscious Mind

Image
If I were to ask you, “What do you truly want?” What would you say? Would you know exactly what it is you are living for? Or would your mind be filled with all the material stuff you desire? When people think about attracting abundance and wealth , they usually think externally. They believe they have to go out and work really hard to get a high-paying job and work at all hours to achieve the results they are aiming for. But what they don’t realize is that attracting abundance and wealth depends mostly on our mindset and our relationship with money and receiving. Believing that wealth is merely an external aspect of our lives is completely untrue, because it only involves the physical aspect of generating money. Attracting abundance is like unlocking a key to a limitless flow, and once you unlock this key by taking control of your subconscious mind , you can have, be and do anything you desire. The universe will always say yes to you.  The subconscious mind refers to the part of t

Giving from the Soul with Andre McDonnell

With the holidays rapidly approaching, many will choose to incorporate charitable giving or donations into their end-of-year plans. But giving back is something that’s always in season, as Andre McDonnell, founder of the nonprofit It’s From the Sole , detailed for In the Details listeners this week. McDonnell and host Karen Allen also discussed how we can change the narrative around helping those who are less fortunate. The 411 on It’s From the Sole He began distributing his own sneaker collection to the less fortunate before and after work, and eventually the movement morphed into a 501c(3) organization that receives sneaker donations from companies and individuals. In the ten years since its founding, It’s From the Sole has been to 40 United States cities and 15 countries, and provided 34,000 sneakers to people who need them. Giving should go beyond the holidays Whether it’s a family initiative or a part of your corporate culture, giving is often baked into the holiday season.

John Maxwell’s Guide to Making Good Decisions Better

Noted philosopher William James said that once a decision is made, you should stop worrying and start working. It’s not always what we know that makes a decision good—and maybe even great—but what we do to implement and execute it. Let me explain. On June 14, 1969, my wife Margaret and I got married. That was a good decision. But, 53 years later, I’m here to tell you that that good decision has become a great one because of what we have done with our life since. Too many people overrate decision-making and underrate decision-managing. If you manage  your decision incorrectly, you will receive only average results. But manage it correctly, and you will see great results. We need both good decision making and managing for our decisions to get off the ground and become great, and doing so starts with prioritizing. But with all the decisions we make daily, how do we prioritize the decision-making process? What’s the main event of your day? I want to share with you a very simple approa

How I Lost $3 Million in 24 Hours and Bounced Back

It was 2010. I was waiting for the most important call of my life. I had been working on a massive deal for 18 months and if everything panned out, my company would make just over a million dollars. And then the phone rang. It was my partner. But he wasn’t calling with good news. As the words “We have a problem…” came through the phone, the blood drained from my face and a sharp pain pierced my stomach. I was expecting the best, business as usual—I hadn’t planned for the worst. I collapsed on the edge of my bed and buried my face in my hands. Was this really happening? It was at that moment that I realized everything I’d worked for could all fall apart . And it did. I think I blacked out, because I don’t remember anything else about that day. But I do know that it changed me and my life forever, the day I now refer to as “The 2×4 Day”—when I got hit upside the head by a 2×4. At least, that’s what losing $3 million felt like. Losing that much money sucked , for lack of a better wo

What Is a Health Savings Account?

We all know we need to prepare for future healthcare costs, but learning how much to save can be difficult. Health savings accounts, or HSAs, are tax-advantaged savings opportunities for people with a high deductible health plan. They let you cover medical expenses like copays and deductibles while providing a tax break and helping you save for the future. Not everyone has access to these plans, but if you do, they can be invaluable for preparing for future medical expenses.  On this week’s episode of the rich & REGULAR podcast, Julien discusses his decision to have a vasectomy, and shares some more information on health savings accounts. What is an HSA?  A health savings account (HSA) is a type of savings account that lets you use pretax money to pay for your current and future medical costs. Contributions can be made to your account by the account owner or an employer and are allowed to grow tax-free. Individuals or families can use the money to pay for qualified medical, d

Happiness Is… a New Career Path

Amber Slone was on a mission. It was early May, a couple of months into the COVID-19 pandemic, and her coworkers had been working from home for 10 weeks. They were bored. She was bored. And the last thing anyone wanted was another Zoom call. Nevertheless, she wanted to engage her colleagues . So the 33-year-old found herself driving around Dallas, darting from one coworker’s home to the next with dozens of soda bottles and ice cream pints in tow. It took Slone three days, but she delivered all of her colleagues their own ingredients and guides for making an ice cream float. Under normal circumstances, this mission would have made Slone a strong contender for “Employee of the Year” at her software company, VMware. But for her, it’s just another day on the job. “My title says ‘happiness director,’ but really I’m a people connector,” she says. “However I can make people love their work , that’s what I do.” Slone is just one of a growing number of people whose job titles literally inclu

Get Your Mind Right: 5 Tips for Untangling Your Can’t-Do Mindset

I often ask my clients, “If anything will get in your way, what will it be?” It’s an important question, especially during this time of year. Holidays can be both joyful and complicated. Expectations are high, and we can feel tangled and conflicted. We daydream things like, The holidays will be perfect! Our family will enjoy special times together! All my gifts will bring joy and excitement! It’s the most wonderful time of the year! And then reality happens. But did the situation really not go well, or did we just expect too much? Ah, internal roadblocks. These mental obstacles are thoughts no one else can see, but they reappear again and again, and they change our responses and the decisions we make. We expect too much. We conclude that the problem is bigger than us. We have ideas we never act upon. We get in our own way , and the great thing that could have been never was. I spoke to a college MBA class this week and asked them to share their “favorite” internal obstacles: Exp

How to Be An Ally for Others with Simon T. Bailey

Have you heard the phrase “kindness: pass it on”? Author, keynote speaker and success coach Simon T. Bailey joined In the Details host Karen Allen to discuss the value of collaboration, how to find success in the workplace, how he’s conquered failures and challenges and how men can uplift and support women. Passing on kindness When Simon was building up his brand as an entrepreneur, he had several mentors that not only gave him a hand up, but also a handout. Their help and knowledge cut down his learning curve, showed him what mistakes to avoid and helped him outline key things to do. While he certainly added his own flavor to their instruction, he always remembered how kind those people were and made it a point to pass it along to others, with no strings attached. What a great lesson we can all incorporate into our own lives. How to find success Simon provided three tips for finding success in whatever career you pursue. First, develop the ability to learn, unlearn and relearn.

Looking to Cut Costs? These Are 5 of the Best Items to Buy Used

Developing new hobbies and interests during the pandemic helped people pass the time and deal with the fear and uncertainty of being in lockdown. Many of us even bought new equipment to help us further explore our passions . Now that the world is reopening, others might be looking to sell items to help recoup their costs, which can mean a good deal on like-new or gently used items.  Buying used items, especially online, can create anxiety since you don’t know if those items are still in good working order and worth the investment. We’ve all heard horror stories of people thinking they scored a fantastic deal on a web marketplace and getting a pile of garbage instead. But there are good deals to be had, so long as you know what to look for and stick to some perennial items that never go out of style. Listen to this week’s episode of the rich & REGULAR podcast, where Julien and Kiersten Saunders discuss the pros and cons of buying new versus used, and keep reading for some like-

Why Introspection Is So Important for a Balanced Life

Are the psychological impacts of social media, along with a mentality of overprotection, depriving a generation of their chance to thrive? There is a place I go once or twice a week. A cold, blank room in a nondescript old building, burrowed deep within one of the darker back pockets of Sydney. A place that provides me with the lessons I desperately need in my life. The grounding nature of this experience is heightened partly by the solitude I feel while I’m here. I don’t need a connection to any electronic device; there’s no appointments or deadlines, no emails or documents to prepare for the outside world. I leave my bag along with my troubles at the door, bow my head, step onto the mat and the learning begins. For more than six years now, the martial art of Brazilian jiu-jitsu has been that place. It has become a quiet ritual I undertake to disconnect in a positive way and relieve the built-up frustrations, anger and anxieties that life brings. It’s a voluntary element of my week
